More than 1,300 students poured into John Paul Jones Arena Wednesday in the name of career. Employers set up shop at the University of Virginia, with the goal of adding more diverse perspectives to their workforces.
The 29th annual Diversity Career Day hit attracted more than 100 different employers. It brings government agencies, corporations, and nonprofits together with students from UVA and across the commonwealth.
"Everybody brings a diverse perspective to the workplace, and so for these different agencies it could be that they're looking to diversify their workforce in terms of gender, maybe in terms of ethnicity, maybe just different religions, even just different experiences," said Barbara Hampton with UVA University Career Services.
University Career Services also hosted a LinkedIn photo booth, helping students update their profiles with professional headshots.
