A Fluvanna County woman has avoided prison time after pleading guilty to stealing more than $200,000 from her employer.
Joanne Thompson was arrested in 2010 on charges of stealing money from billionaire Edgar Bronfman, the owner of Georgetown Farms. She was charged with five felony counts of embezzlement.
In June, Thompson pleaded guilty to all of the charges against her. Tuesday afternoon, she was sentenced in Albemarle County Circuit Court and received a two-year suspended sentence on each count.
Michael Neymeyer was also arrested and charged in the case, but was found not guilty last year.
