Charlottesville has seen some major relief in gas prices over the last few weeks. This drop in prices is also a nationwide trend that is expected to continue through the end of the year.
According to AAA, this has been the largest week-by-week decline since 2008. AAA experts expect gas prices to continue to drop as Americans head to the polls, and to become even lower as the end of the year approaches.
Right now, the average for a gallon of regular gas in Virginia is $3.47 per gallon. That's 18 cents lower than it was just a month ago.
In Charlottesville, prices have been seen as low as $3.27 per gallon. The lowest gas price in the city is 37 cents below the national average and 22 cents below the Virginia average.
