Remembering 'The Mayor' of the Corner, Bobby Mincer

The man known affectionately as "the mayor" of the corner has passed away. Bobby Mincer died early Monday morning after a long battle with leukemia.

Mincer was the owner of Mincer's UVA Sportswear along the corner. The store was founded as Mincer's Pipe Shop by his father in 1948.

The store is known as a Charlottesville staple to University of Virginia students, faculty and the community. Mincer was 77 years old.
