WAYNESBORO, Va. (AP) - Waynesboro is getting more than $400,000 from the state to expand a bike and pedestrian pathway.
The grant from the Virginia Department of Transportation will be used to expand the city's Greenway project from Constitution Park to North Park.
The News Leader reports that the $424,574 grant requires the city to provide 20% in matching funds. The grant is funded with federal transportation enhancement money.
The first 1-mile section of the pathway opened earlier this year. When completed, the pathway will link downtown with the South River.
