2 Juveniles Charged with Sexual Assault & Armed Robbery

Two teenagers face felony charges after a violent home invasion over the weekend in Harrisonburg.

Police say the 16-year-olds sexually assaulted and robbed a woman after breaking into her apartment early Saturday.  Both teens face charges including felony armed robbery, rape, grand larceny and abduction.

The teenagers are currently being held at the Shenandoah Valley Juvenile Detention Center.

On Saturday October 20th, at approximately 1:00 a.m., officers with the Harrisonburg Police Department responded to the area of the 1400 block of Bradley Drive in the City of Harrisonburg for the report of a sexual assault and armed robbery.  The victim is described as a 22 year old female.

Initial information received, revealed two males entered an apartment, while armed, sexually assaulted and robbed a female within the apartment.  A short time later, officers with the Harrisonburg Police Department were able to detain two possible suspects, who were interviewed in reference to the incident and subsequently charged in relation to the crime.

The names of the two suspects are not being released at this time as both offenders are juveniles.  Both juveniles were transported and are being held at the Shenandoah Valley Juvenile Detention Center in Verona, VA.  Their charges are listed below.

  1. Juvenile, 16 years of age, Harrisonburg, VA
    • 18.2-58- Armed robbery (Felony)
    • 18.2-22- Conspiracy to commit armed robbery (Felony)
    • 18.2-48 (II)- Abduction with the intent to defile (Felony)
    • 18.2-22- Conspiracy to commit abduction (Felony)
    • 18.2-422- Wear a mask to conceal identity (Felony)
    • 18.2-95 (II)- Grand larceny (Felony) (2 counts)
    • 18.2-22- Conspiracy to commit larceny (Felony) (2 counts)
    • 18.2-61- Rape (Felony)
    • 18.2-18- Principal in the 2nd degree to rape (Felony)
    • 18.2-91- Breaking and Entering with the intent to commit a felony (Felony)
    • 18.2-22- Conspiracy to commit breaking and entering (Felony)
  2. Juvenile, 16 years of age, Harrisonburg, VA
    • 18.2-91- Breaking and Entering with the intent to commit a felony (Felony)

    • 18.2-67.1- Forcible sodomy (Felony) (4 counts)
    • 18.2-95 (II)- Grand Larceny (Felony) (2 counts)
    • 18.2-22- Conspiracy to commit grand larceny (Felony) (2 counts)
    • 18.2-62- Rape (Felony) (2 counts)
    • 18.2-422- Wear a mask to conceal identity (Felony)

Lt. Chris Rush, Division Commander of the Criminal Investigations Division is encouraging anyone with information in reference to this crime to contact the Criminal Investigations Division of the Harrisonburg Police Department at 540-437-2640. 

In addition, anyone who has been a victim of a recent breaking and entering and larceny from their residence, particularly in the college housing area, are encouraged to contact the Harrisonburg Police Department Criminal Investigations Division.  Investigators know these two offenders have been targeting residences with unsecured windows and doors.
