This week you have a chance to go shopping at a new Albemarle County store before it opens to the public. Shop to your heart's content without buyer's remorse because part of the proceeds will go to charity.
Stein Mart, a discount fashion and home-goods store, is opening on Thursday on Route 29, across from Fashion Square Mall. Before it opens to everyone, you can buy a ticket for a preview sale happening Tuesday.
Tickets for the preview sale are $5, and the proceeds will be split between three Charlottesville charities: Hospice of the Piedmont, Habitat for Humanity, and the American Cancer Society. You can buy tickets from any of those organizations, or you can purchase them at the door on the day of the sale.
"Anybody who buys a ticket also gets a percentage off of their purchase that night so it's a win win for the customers and for the charities," said Karen Ratzlaff, the Director of Advancement for Hospice of the Piedmont.
The discount with the ticket will be $5 off the total purchase plus 20% off two of the most expensive items.
The charity preview sale takes place Tuesday from 5 to 8 P.M. at Stein Mart.
