True Freshman Harold Shining Bright For UVA

Posted: Updated:

The UVA football team will face Wake Forest for the first time in four years on Saturday.

The 'Hoos will be trying to snap a 5-game losing skid.

You can watch the game on NBC29 starting at noon on Saturday.

One of the bright spots for Virginia during this losing streak has been the play of true freshman defensive end Eli Harold.

Against Maryland, Harold had 1 1/2 sacks, a forced fumble, and three tackles for a loss.

Harold has played in all seven games and has 16 tackles.

He was the number one recruit in the commonwealth coming out of high school.

Harold says part of his success has to do with his low stance on the line of scrimmage.

"Coach told me to get in the stance you're comfortable in," says Harold.  "At first, he didn't want me doing it. I thought in practice, when I beat Mo (Morgan Moses), I was real low in the intrasquad scrimmage, I beat Mo more around the corner. Coaches just let me freelance with it. I just try to get in a comfortable stance, so I can explode. Pass rushing is all about your first step."
