British Engineering Company Opens Office in Waynesboro

Posted: Updated:

A British engineering company has chosen Waynesboro as its headquarters for a western expansion.

David Brown specializes in industrial gear systems for customers in mining and energy, railroad and the defense industry.  Wednesday the 150-year-old company celebrated the opening of a sales and marketing office in Waynesboro.  It will oversee all operations from Canada to South America.

"Virginia has got a history in the gear industry… t's very close to the Appalachian mining area too," David Brown CEO John Paterson said.  "And there's a great labor pool for us that's experienced in gears.  So Virginia generally - and specifically Waynesboro - is a good opportunity for us."

David Brown's new downtown office will start with five employees.  Future growth may allow the company to take advantage of Waynesboro's foreign trade zone.
