White House picks 6 interns from VA, 1 is from Charlottesville

RICHMOND, Va. (AP) - Six Virginians are among more than 140 people selected from across the country to participate in the fall White House internship program.

The White House says the program provides an opportunity to gain professional experience and build leadership skills. Interns work in departments ranging from the Offices of Cabinet Affairs and the Chief of Staff to the Offices of the First Lady and the Vice President. Other departments include the Presidential Personnel Office and the National Economic Council.

The interns from the state are: Emily Blakemore from Charlottesville, Maab Ibrahim from Richmond, Don Irwin from Ashburn, Daniel Lagana from Alexandria, and Inesha Premaratne and Matthew Shapiro from Glen Allen.
