Charlottesville Area Transit (CAT), took a look at the big picture Tuesday night. CAT recently wrapped up its 2012 survey and is taking part in a study to improve its routes and services.
The transit system opened the floor to its riders and wanted feedback on the proposed route changes. The potential changes include creating more simplified routes, focusing stops around landmarks and having routes go the same way in both directions to make it easier for riders.
The open house was held to make sure riders were able to give their input. "It's absolutely critical to hear from the riders because they know our system better than any of us do. They know where they're trying to go, to get to work, to shop to go to school," said Lance Stewart, CAT Transit Manager.
The two new proposals include one focusing on improving the current downtown routes and another that would focus more on strengthening the system's largest routes which are the Trolley and Route 7.
CAT will be accepting comments on its proposals through November 2.
