Louisa County's first no-kill animal shelter is celebrating the fall by hosting a festival with a cause.
Kids and parents enjoyed arts and crafts, a moon bounce, music, and a hay maze Sunday during the festival's kick off weekend at the Love for Animals Sanctuary and Rescue. All of the proceeds from the event will support food and medication for the cats, dogs, pig and horses that live at the shelter.
Debra Shindler, the shelter's founder, said, "I'm hoping that people will fall in love with not just the sanctuary, but I'm hoping that some of the animals will fall in love with some of the people that come here and maybe they'll come back and possibly adopt."
The festival continues next weekend starting at noon on Saturday and Sunday. And the fun doesn't stop at the end of the day, you check out the haunted trail after nightfall at 7 p.m.
