Two central Virginia breweries are bringing home awards from a national taste testing competition. Devils Backbone Brewing Company won big at this weekend's Great American Beer Festival.
The Nelson County brewery earned gold medals for "Berliner Metro Weiss" and "Vienna Lager". Their "Old Virginia Dark" and "Danzig" won silver medals and four beers earned bronze prizes.
More than 4,300 beers from 666 breweries competed in the beer fest in Denver, Colorado.
Arrington-based Blue Mountain Barrel House also got a bronze in the wood and barrel-aged beer category for its local species.
