The Haven to Hold Peace Talk Following Dalai Lama Appearance
A discussion immediately following the Dalai Lama's appearance at the nTelos Wireless Pavilion on Thursday will focus on creating a compassionate community in Charlottesville.
The Haven is hosting the third annual Peace Talk Thursday afternoon. You are invited to share in a discussion about encouraging understanding and compassion in the spirit of the Dalai Lama's visit.
Peace Talk organizer Douglas Olson stated, "It's an indication that people are ready for this, there's a need for it, and that the time has really come. We want to give people an opportunity to start that dialogue and, hopefully, get enough people to support this that we start intentionally in that direction as a community."
Organizers are encouraging Charlottesville and Albemarle to develop a 10-year plan to join communities like Seattle and Louisville in becoming an official "compassionate city".
The Peace Talk begins at 3:30 Thursday at The Haven on Market Street in Charlottesville.
