Brownsville Market Fire

Brownsville Market in Albemarle County was closed Wednesday morning after a fire prompted workers to evacuate and crews to shut down Rockfish Gap Turnpike.

A stove fire was reported just before 9:00 Wednesday morning. No one was injured, but Rockfish Gap Turnpike was shut down in both directions as crews put out the fire.

The chief of the Crozet Volunteer Fire Department says there was so much smoke damage that the health inspector had to come in and check out any food items.
