Greene County is considering creating a network of cultural attractions to encourage economic development through the arts. Noon Whistle Pottery in Stanardsville is one of more than 50 locations in the county tagged to be a part of the Greene Artisan Trail.
The proposed trail would map out craftspeople's shops, art galleries, and agritourism sites for tourists and locals alike to explore.
Holly Horan, with Noon Whistle Pottery, said, "I'm always sending people that come in here to other local places. People will stop in and say 'I never knew you were here.'"
Greene County Economic Development Director Tony Williams said, "A lot of times, people want to be able to go somewhere where they have a variety of things to do. So, when you go someplace where people have something like a trail, it really lists all those things to do."
County supervisors will review the Greene Artisan Trail proposal at their meeting Tuesday night. The trail could also collaborate with cultural attractions in Madison and Orange.
