Al Groh Fired as Georgia Tech Defensive Coordinator

Posted: Updated:

Al Groh has been fired as Georgia Tech defensive coordinator after two and a half seasons with the Yellow Jackets.

Georgia Tech is on pace this season to give up the most yards in school history.  Opponents are averaging 431 yards per game after six contests.    The Yellow Jackets are coming off a 47-31 loss to Clemson.   A couple weeks ago Georgia Tech was upset by Middle Tennessee State 49-28 giving up 510 total yards.  No word yet on who will replace Groh as the Yellow Jacket's defensive coordinator.

Groh was the head coach at the University of Virginia from 2001-2009.
