Habitat Celebrates World Habitat Day with Legos

Posted: Updated:

Members of Habitat for Humanity built another house Friday, but this time they are doing away with the wood and concrete, and using Legos instead.

Kids of all ages were at the nTelos Wireless Pavilion Friday afternoon for what's called a "Legos Blitz Build." It's in celebration of World Habitat Day. Kids were encouraged to design houses that represent homes from around the world, and were judged on their creativity.

Chase Crickenberger, the event organizer, said, "We came up with this Lego build and all of the little kids get together and build houses and at the end we put them all together and we're going to make a village and that's going to be put up in the office, the Habitat office."

Friday's winner will receive a gift card. Habitat is expecting to build at least 40 Lego homes.
