Suspect in UVA Student Sexual Assault Arrested

A Charlottesville man is in custody after being arrested in connection with the sexual assault of a University of Virginia student.

Manneh Vay, 21, is charged with rape, sodomy and abduction.

Police say in the early morning hours of September 23, Vay forced the student into the bathroom at a party she was attending on Wertland Street and assaulted her.

On September 25th Investigators with the Charlottesville Police Department arrested VAY, Manneh a 21 year old. He was arrested at his home without incident.  VAY was charged with Rape, Sodomy and Abduction that occurred during the early morning hours of September 23rd  on Wertland St.  Mr. VAY is a city resident. He is currently incarcerated in the Charlottesville / Albemarle Regional Jail where he awaits trial in the Juvenile Domestic Relations Court.
