Nick Drapanas Named Falcon Club Player Of The Week
It's beginning to become a trend, as for the third time in six weeks, the Falcon Club Player of the Week hails from Western Albemarle High School.
Warriors junior Nick Drapanas was presented the award by Jimmy French of the Falcon Club Tuesday at WAHS.
"It really says a lot about our team," says Drapanas. "Even though they are individual awards, it really says a lot about how our team prepares for each game, and even though we always have that one player making big plays, the whole team is contributing to it."
Drapanas is part of a Western defense which shut out Monticello in their showdown Saturday.
The junior had three interceptions in the game, including one returned for a touchdown, which helped the Warriors win the battle of undefeated teams.
Drapanas says, "Nine months we've been thinking about that game. That, and the Albemarle game has been on our mind since last season. Especially since we lost in the playoffs against them last year. We were looking for revenge, and we got it."
