Upscale and rummage sale aren't normally two terms you hear together, but one local shop is changing the rules. The traveling shop, Leftover Luxuries, has made its way back to Charlottesville and is open for business.
The consignment shop started back in 2009 and since then has been on the road setting up shop in Richmond, New York, Atlana and California. The owner of the shop, Wendi Smith, says traveling and setting up gives her the chance to practice her creative skills.
"Somebody may send me a picture of a shabby chic coffee table and to somebody else they may think ‘Oh what is that?' But if I pair it up with a nice settee covered in velvet and I've got it on a rug and a chandelier above, so when I'm preapproving all these pictures I'm putting these vignettes together," said Smith.
The store has everything from couches to jewelry, handbags and children's clothes. The shop is open every day from 10 a.m. until 9 p.m. through October 8 in the Pantops Shopping Center.
