Former swimmer at the University of Virginia, Matt McLean, is joining the UVA Swim and Dive staff as a volunteer assistant coach.
McLean won a gold medal with the US Men's 4x200 meter freestyle relay team at the 2012 Summer Olympic games in London.
The Sterling, Virginia, native graduated with a degree in Sociology in 2011 and as one of UVA's most decorated student-athletes. McLean won the 2011 NCAA Championship in the 500-yard freestyle and was a 15-time All-American at UVA. He was also a 17-time Atlantic Coast Conference Champion and was the "ACC Swimmer of the Year" in 2008, 2009, and 2011.
McLean says he's hoping to take everything he's learned and relay it to the current group of UVA swimmers.
