UVA Football Needs to Protect Football Against Louisiana Tech

Posted: Updated:

The University of Virginia football team has to do a better job of protecting the football if they want beat Louisiana Tech Saturday, September 29, 2012.

If UVA wins - they will snap their two game losing skid.

The Cavaliers head into their final non-conference game with a -7 turnover margin.

The Wahoo's have 10 turnovers this season and taken it away just 3 times.

Undefeated Louisiana Tech has a +6 turnover margin.

Mike London says taking care of the ball is an absolute necessity.

Louisiana Tech head coach, Sonny Dykes said UVA shows plenty of potential to be dangerous. He said, "The capability is there, both quarterbacks have good arms, they can throw the ball. They have fast receivers, they have good size and they just haven't gotten on track yet and we have to make sure they don't get on track against us. They're capable of being a very good football team, they're big up front, they have two really good backs, and a lot of speed at wide receiver, its going to be a big challenge for us.

Dykes added that his team will try to stop the UVA running game and force them to pass. He said, "They're going to try to come out and run over us and they're big and physical up. You know we're going to need to hold up in the run game if we can. I think like anything else they'll throw the ball and that's probably the part of their offense that isn't playing as well. We need to force them to throw."
