Car Crashes into Mount Solon Barn

A Mount Solon man is in serious condition at UVA Medical Center after crashing his car through a barn in Augusta County Tuesday night. The accident happened around 9:30 along Natural Chimneys Road in Mount Solon.

Virginia State Police say 47-year-old Roger Howdyshell was driving his car east when he went off the side of the road. The car went through a fence and a barn before ending up in a field.

There is plenty of damage, but no cost estimate yet. Troopers believe speed was a factor and he was not wearing a seatbelt.

Charges are pending against Howdyshell.
