New Charlottesville Brewing Company to Open Late Fall
The newest addition to the Charlottesville beer scene is one step closer to pouring its first pint. Champion Brewing Company received a truckload of shiny new brewing tanks Monday morning, all the way from California.
The business sits close to downtown Charlottesville, just off Garrett Street near the Belmont Bridge. Owner Hunter Smith says he's moving quickly to get business flowing.
"We're trying to brew as quickly as possible, it's going to take another week or two to get these all installed. Once we do that, we start brewing, so it should be a little over a month before we have some finished beer," he said.
Unlike other brew-pubs, Champion will not have its own kitchen or cook staff. It is planning to dedicate space for food trucks to sell separate snacks. Champion Brewing Company hopes to open its doors to the public by Thanksgiving.
