VDOT to Repair Doctors Crossing Bridge

Posted: Updated: Sep 23, 2012 11:08 PM EDT

The Virginia Department of Transportation is closing Route 748 (Doctors Crossing) in Albemarle County on Monday to replace a crumbling bridge superstructure.

The bridge dates back to 1932 and VDOT says it's structurally deficient. The bridge already has a 13 ton weight limit due to its deteriorated condition.

VDOT will replace the existing wooden deck with a new deck made of concrete slabs. The bridge is expected to remain closed through October 4.

Below is a list of the other projects that VDOT is working on in central Virginia.
