Fluvanna School Board Member Kicks Off Campaign to Win Seat

Posted: Updated:

A member of the Fluvanna County School Board who was appointed to fill a vacancy is kicking off a campaign to win an elected seat. Bill Hughes gathered with supporters at the Lake Monticello Fire Department Sunday afternoon.

He has served on the school board since his appointment in October of last year. Hughes says that experience has prepared him to serve a full term.

"My main objective is to work to get a sustainable budget, to bridge the communications between our board of supervisors and our community, and also to provide leadership to the current board," said Hughes.

He also says it will be important to deal with budget cuts while taking care of the county's teachers. He will face challenger Charles Rittenhouse in November's election.
