VSP Investigates Greene County Fatal Accident

A Scottsville man is dead after crashing a reportedly stolen motorcycle in Greene County.

State police say 27-year-old Edward L. Taylor III, was thrown from the bike when it ran off Route 645 about a mile north of Route 33 in Ruckersville.  Taylor died at the scene Saturday morning just before 10:00.

Troopers say the 2008 Buell motorcycle he was riding was reported stolen from Augusta County a week ago.  Police are still investigating the cause of the crash.

Virginia State Police were called to the scene of a single-vehicle crash on Route 645, less than a mile north of Route 33 in Greene County.

The crash occurred at 9:52 a.m. Saturday (Sept. 22). A 2008 Buell 1125R motorcycle was traveling north on Route 645 when it ran off the left side of the road and struck a ditch.

The driver, Edward L. Taylor III, 27, of Scottsville, Va., was thrown from the bike. Taylor died at the scene. He was wearing a helmet.

The motorcycle had been reported stolen out of Augusta County approximately one week prior. The crash remains under investigation at this time by Trooper J.C. Crabtree.

FYI…this is one of four fatal crashes to occur on Saturday on a Virginia highway: Greene County; Warren County; Westmoreland County; and the City of Virginia Beach.
