A support group for ex-prisoners in central Virginia is raising money to help its members get to work. Believers and Achievers held a car wash on the corner of Barracks Road and Emmett Street on Saturday.
Cherry Henley wants to help ex-prisoners find jobs and keep them. She's raising money to buy a used van to transport ex-prisoners to work every day. Henley says she wants to give back to ex-offenders because she knows personally how they're in need.
Cherry Henley with Believers and Achievers said, "I was once an ex-offender and I know the obstacles and challenges once you're released, and it's just some thing that I've faced and I realize that many, many others face the same thing."
Henley hopes to raise at least $7,000 for a van that will seat 12 people. For more information on Believers and Achievers email Bob Fenwick at bfenwick@mindspring.com.
