One Love Foundation Launches "Be 1 for Change" Ad and App
The One Love Foundation is out with a new provocative ad that highlights dating violence. This comes a day after Yeardley Love's family opened up for the first time publicly about her tragic death.
The ad is part of the "Be 1 for Change" campaign to combat relationship violence, but the ad also has a resemblance to what happened inside Love's apartment the night she was killed.
In the video, you see a man yell at a woman, push her around, shatter a lamp, and pin her down on her bed. Thoughts from friends and family are peppered into the ad as well, saying "it only happens when he's drunk", "it's none of my business", and "there's nothing I can do."
The initiative is part of a long-term campaign that also comes with a danger assessment application for smartphones.
The announcer in the ad says, "The One Love Foundation created a revolutionary app that makes it impossible to ignore relationship violence. This app helps victims, friends and families make an assessment and determine the threat."
The campaign is also using a number of statistics about dating violence. Every year between three and four million women in the United States are abused and almost 1,600 are killed by their abusers.
The app is free and anonymous. Click here to see the ad and download the assessment app.
