Press Release

The Waynesboro Police Department has charged a Waynesboro woman for driving under the influence of alcohol after she drove her vehicle into a utility pole in the 100 block of North Charlotte Ave on today's date.  At 8:00 am, officers responded to the scene of a single vehicle accident near the Stop In convenience store on E Broad St.

The driver, Angela Royer Harris, 35 years old, was traveling west on E Broad St in a 1989 Honda Accord and attempted to turn north onto N Charlotte Ave when she overshot the intersection.  She travelled through the Royal gas station parking lot which is immediately west of the intersection and came back onto N Charlotte Ave.  She crossed over the street and entered the Stop In parking lot where she struck the utility pole head on.

She suffered serious head injuries and was transported to Augusta Health and then airlifted to UVA Medical Center where she remains in critical condition.   Harris was not wearing her seat belt.
