A 19th century engineering wonder will be in the spotlight Thursday night in Waynesboro.
The Clann Mhor researchers are giving a presentation on the building of the Claudius Crozet railroad tunnel. They plan to share artifacts found during an archeological dig this summer.
They'll also shed light on the Irish workers and slaves who built the tunnel.
Shirley Bridgeforth with the Waynesboro Heritage Museum said, "With just gunpowder or a black powder charge, they drilled by hand these holes into the granite rock on the Nelson County side. It was like 1,000 and some feet, and they were able to just be like a half inch off when both sides met."
The lecture will be at 7:00 Thursday night at the Wayne's Alliance Gateway Theater. Seats are first come first serve.
