The severe weather may be the reason a Fluvanna County family is out of their home Tuesday night. Part of the roof of a home on Fox Hollow Lane collapsed amidst all the rain.
The 911 center got the call around 2:00 Tuesday afternoon. A man inside the home was sleeping when he awoke to hear the roof start collapsing. He was trapped inside at first, but was able to get out safely.
The home is severely damaged, with parts of the roof caved in and the front ripped off. Fluvanna County Sheriff Ryant Washington says the storm left a trail of damage.
"We had been following the storm in the 911 center on radar and we could see the storm was definitely hitting Fluvanna pretty hard at that time," Washington said. "We have several other reports of homes damaged on the south end of the county."
So far, there are no reports of injuries. Residents are being helped by the Red Cross.
