Chamber of Commerce Holds First Minority Business Conference

Posted: Updated:

A conference being held in Charlottesville Tuesday is connecting minority business owners to resources in the community.

The Charlottesville Regional Chamber of Commerce is putting on its first minority business conference at the Omni Hotel.  Between 125 and 140 business owners, entrepreneurs, and their supporters are networking and learning how to make their ventures a success in central Virginia.

"Anyone interested in supporting minority businesses should be here," Chamber Minority Business Council Chairman Bernard Whitsett said.  "So, it's an opportunity for you to find out what goods and services are offered by various minority groups in the Charlottesville and surrounding area."

The conference continues through 4:15 Tuesday afternoon.  The Chamber Minority Business Council is currently working to identify how many minority-owned businesses operate in and around Charlottesville.
