Tea partiers rallied in downtown Charlottesville Monday afternoon, but this time, it has nothing to do with the election. They are recognizing Constitution Day.
A faithful group of tea partiers braved a brief drizzle next to the Free Speech Wall on the downtown mall to recognize the 225th anniversary of the signing of the United States Constitution.
Organizers say the Constitution is as important today as it has ever been.
Jefferson Area Tea Party member Steven Peters said, "These founding documents were the dreams of our Founding Fathers. And basically they've enabled us to prosper and live free for hundreds of years. But not only us, the rest of the world."
Those at Monday's rally received their own, pocket sized version of the Constitution, and a take home quiz to test their knowledge of our nation's founding document.
