UVA men's soccer player Ari Dimas will not be able to play for the rest of the year, but not because of any injury.
Dimas has been ruled ineligible to compete for the remainder of his senior season.
Dimas played club soccer at UVA back in 2008 before joining the varsity, where he's played the last three seasons.
NCAA bylaws say that year of club soccer counts as a year on the varsity level.
Virginia will not have to forfeit any of the six games Dimas played in this year, but the UVA athletics department has been fined $3,000 by the NCAA for the mistake.
Dimas had 4 goals and 6 assists during his UVA career.
