The Virginia Foundation for the Humanities held its annual Virginia Folklife Apprenticeship Showcase at the Boar's Head Inn on Sunday.
The public was invited to celebrate the foundation's work and enjoy the traditional skills of Virginia's folk masters and their apprentices.
The Virginia Foundation for the Humanities was started to ensure art forms are passed on in ways that are conscious of history and faithful to tradition.
Peter Hedlund with the Virginia Folklife Apprenticeship Showcase, said the group is trying to "preserve some of the traditions of Virginia - sorta the folk ways, which could've been food, music, and different artistic cultures - by pairing masters in those trades with apprentices who are interested in learning and carrying on those traditions."
The Virginia Folklife Apprenticeship Showcase is in its ninth year.
