Boys and Girls Club Members Reach Cycling Challenge Goals

Posted: Updated:

After months of hard work and intense training, members of the Boys and Girls Club of central Virginia proved they were up to the challenge. Loved ones cheered riders on as they hit the trails for the Boys and Girls Club Cycling Challenge in Crozet Sunday.

The young riders have been working all summer to reach their goals to ride 25, 50, or 75 miles. In years past the event has help raise $100,000.

Brendan Richardson, the chair of the Boys and Girls Club Cycling Challenge, said, "You can really kind of see them grasping onto the fact that this is possible and that it's not magic it's just within them. They can do it if they put their mind to it, so that's what we're trying to impart to the challenge riders, but all members of the Boys and Girls Club."

Boys and Girls Club members were given a new bike and equipment for the challenge. They were allowed to keep the bike if they reached their goals.
