Central Virginia golfers spent Sunday afternoon teeing off to support animals in need of forever homes.
A sold out crowd of 120 golfers participated in the 10th annual Tony Fogliani Memorial Golf Tournament. It's one of the largest fundraisers for the Charlottesville-Albemarle SPCA.
There were special competitions including the longest drive and a hole-in-one contest to win a new car.
Wayne Miller, a SPCA volunteer, said, "It takes a lot of money. We have a lot of animals that come through the shelter, probably around 400 kittens ... every month [in the summer]. Approximately 4,000 or 5,000 animals come through the shelter a year."
This is the first year the tournament was held at the Old Trail Golf Course in Crozet.
