Posted: Updated:

The Albemarle-Charlottesville NAACP's annual Freedom Fund Banquet is being held Friday night at 5:45 at the Double Tree Hotel off Route 29 in Albemarle County.

The banquet's guest speaker is Lacy Ward, director of the Robert Russa Moton Museum in Farmville. With the November elections around the corner, the theme of this year's banquet is "Your Power, Your Decision - Vote."

Rick Turner, the president of the Albemarle-Charlottesville chapter of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People said, "We want to inspire hope within the community. It's kind of a call for action: action to vote, action to understand why it's necessary to vote."

The event runs until 9:00 p.m.
