VA State Police Arrest Scottsville Man on Sexual Abuse Charges

APPOMATTOX – A Scottsville man remains behind bars after his arrest on multiple sexual abuse charges. Charlie W. Baird, Jr., 63, OF Scottsville, was arrested by Virginia State Police Special Agent C.E. Williams without incident Wednesday, Sept. 12, 2012.

In January 2012, the Buckingham County Commonwealth's Attorney requested the Virginia State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation's Appomattox Field Office to investigate allegations of sexual molestation involving two females acquainted with Baird. The sexual abuse spanned several decades.

A grand jury indicted Baird on nine counts of rape, one count of indecent liberties with a minor, one count of crimes against nature, one count of aggravated sexual battery, and two counts of object penetration.

Baird is being held without bond at the Piedmont Regional Jail.
