Waynesboro Grand Jury Indicts Clark on Additional Sex Charges

A Waynesboro man now faces two dozen charges for alleged sexual abuse against four different victims.

John W. Clark II, 66, was originally arrested back in March.  He was accused of molesting a young girl for several years, beginning in the late 1970s.

Now a Waynesboro grand jury alleges that Clark victimized four girls over the span of more than two decades.  Clark is set for a bond hearing next Wednesday.

On September 10, 2012 a Waynesboro grand jury indicted John Williamson Clark II on 21 additional charges of sex crimes involving female children.  An ongoing investigation by the Waynesboro Police Department that began in March 2012 identified three additional victims along with the original victim.  That investigation resulted in the additional charges that spanned a twenty-two year period ending in the late 1990s. 

Clark, 66 years old, is facing a total of 23 charges.  The charges are itemized below by victim:

  • Original victim – 1 count aggravated sexual battery; 2 counts sodomy; 1 count rape
  • Victim #2 – 2 counts indecent liberties with children; 2 counts animate object sexual penetration
  • Victim #3 – 2 counts aggravated sexual battery
  • Victim #4 – 1 count indecent liberties with children; 4 counts of rape; 3 counts of carnal knowledge of 13 to 15 year child; 4 counts of sodomy; 1 count of animate object sexual penetration

Waynesboro Police detectives arrested Clark on the additional charges at his residence shortly after the indictments were returned.  He is being held without bond at Middle River Regional Jail.  He is next scheduled to appear in Waynesboro Circuit Court on September 19, 2012 for a bond hearing.

Clark faces life imprisonment if convicted on all or just some of the charges.

The Waynesboro Police Department has arrested a Waynesboro man in connection with a sexual assault that took place over a four year period dating back to the late 1970s and into the early 1980s.   John Williamson Clark II, 66 years old, of Waynesboro has been charged with one count of aggravated sexual battery and two counts of object sexual penetration between the dates of January 1, 1978 and December 31, 1981 at a residence in Waynesboro. The assault involved a female victim who was in elementary school at the time the molestation began.  The victim, who was an acquaintance of the Clark family at the time, reported the past abuse to the Police Department earlier this month.

Clark surrendered himself at the Police Department on today's date.  He is being held without bond at Middle River Regional Jail.  He is scheduled to have an advisement hearing in Waynesboro General District Court on March 30, 2012.
