Clay Found Not Guilty on Occupy Charlottesville Arson Charge

Posted: Updated:

The man charged with trying to set fire to an Occupy Charlottesville tent was found not guilty Tuesday night.

Richard Clay was charged with attempted arson after he allegedly tried to burn a tent protesters were living in last fall.

Witnesses told investigators Clay got into an argument with several people in Lee Park last November. Police say he went back and poured lighter fluid onto a tent. No one was injured.

Clay is still serving time at the Albemarle - Charlottesville Regional Jail for unrelated charges.
