Albemarle Firefighters Say 'Fill the Boot' was a Success

Posted: Updated:

Albemarle County firefighters are calling the annual "Fill the Boot" campaign a success. The Albemarle County Professional Firefighters Association has raised more than $11,000.

The money will go to the Muscular Dystrophy Association. Over the past five years, firefighters have collected just over $50,000.

The group is now preparing for an annual charity golf tournament to support the Central Virginia Burn Camp for Children. The camp is a weeklong residential camp free for children ages 7-17 that have survived burn injuries. The camp is held at Camp Holiday Trails in Charlottesville.

The golf tournament is set for October 1 at Spring Creek Golf Course, near Zions Crossroads.
