The University of Virginia has released the receipts from the board of visitors' most recent retreat. The receipts show the UVA Board of Visitors spent $34,742.50 on their Richmond retreat last month.
The 2-day meeting was held on August 15 and 16 as a new member orientation and retreat. The board racked up a tab for things like food, travel, lodging, and meeting materials.
The biggest bill was the cost of the facilitator, for which UVA paid $15,000. The Richmond Omni Hotel was pricey as well, $14,749.49 was spent there for hotel rooms, meeting rooms, and several meals. Dinner and a reception at the city's Boathouse Restaurant - including alcohol - came at a cost of $2,735.28.
UVA say this is not tax money, but instead comes from a general account, which is made up of money from the university's endowment.
