Malcolm Cook Named Falcon Club Player of the Week

Posted: Updated:

Fork Union defensive back Malcolm Cook has been named the Falcon Club player of the week.

Cook, who has verbally committed to play college ball for Mike London at Virginia, returned two interceptions for touchdowns in FUMA's 32-24 win over Georgetown Prep on Friday.  Cook ran one back 97 yards and another 57 yards for a touchdown.   Cook also had 9 tackles.

Cook says, "One of my coaches was telling me before the game about undercutting on the ball, The coaches said a great player plays hard in practice so coming from playing hard and going hard in practice every day. That's what I did I went out there and made two big plays."

Cook's Fork Union teammate, quarterback Christian Hackenberg is still a firm commitment for Penn State's 2013 class.  Both Hackenberg and Cook will be at the UVa-Penn St. game on Saturday.

With Cook heading to Virginia next year, the two guys are excited for Saturday's battle for bragging rights.

Hackenberg says, "I'm happy for him, I know he's happy for me, but that's just where we are in our relationship we go back and forth about it, its just fun and games between us."

Cook says, "Its so good to be a Wahoo, we go back and forth every day, I've been pickin' with him every since I found out about this game, I tell him, we gonna beat you'all."
