Tuesday night, Charlottesville City Council voted to go forward with the McIntire Park master plan.
The plan did come with some changes, which included making sure lighting has minimal effect to the surrounding area and not using synthetic turf on one of the sports fields.
There were also new assurances that finding a new home for the First Tee program is a priority.
Charlottesville City Councilor Dave Norris said, "They know that we aren't going to pull the rug out from under them, that we are going to provide golf space. They know that First Tee has a long-term home, maybe even a better home than they have now."
The McIntire Park plan now goes to the design phase. City Council also approved the sale of 2,400 square feet of property to the Fry's Spring Beach Club and a new pilot program for downtown mall ambassadors.
