Charlottesville's Golden Living Center already serves seniors in the community, and now they're giving back to animals too.
The Golden Living Center will donate $1,000 to the Charlottesville-Albemarle SPCA. The grant will support the more than 3,000 animals that come through the SPCA each year, especially those that need specialized medical care.
The grant is part of Golden Living Center's Community Support Initiative, which supports local nonprofits.
"We wanted to find an organization that we felt embodied the initiatives and the goals that we embody," Golden Living Executive Director Ryan Koeniger said. "So we found out that the SPCA was in the community. Pet therapy is such an important part of servicing the seniors that we do, that we thought it was a great initiative to partner with them."
The check presentation ceremony will be held at 11:00 a.m. on September 14.
