Wild Wolf Brewing Company played host to some winged guests Monday. A volunteer from the Wildlife Center of Virginia brought a hawk and an owl there to show guests.
It was part of the "Birds Over the Brewpub" fundraiser. The Wildlife Center of Virginia has a $600,000 a year operating budget, and since it's a nonprofit, most of its money comes from donations at events like these.
Bill Sykes, a Wildlife Center of Virginia volunteer, said, "Out in Virginia's wine country, in the brewpubs and some of the restaurants there are people, there's an audience there that we think would be receptive to learning about the Wildlife Center and in fact that's been the case. The program's been a wonderful success."
Other upcoming events from the Wildlife Center of Virginia include "Raptors Over the Rivanna," "Birds Over the Bistro," and "Carter Mountain Carnivores."
