The Virginia men's soccer team lost 1-0 in overtime against #11 UCLA Sunday at Klockner Stadium.
The Bruins' Joe Sofia scored the only goal of the match with 28 seconds remaining in overtime.
Both of the Cavaliers losses this season have come in overtime.
Head coach George Gelnovatch says, "We're a talented group, we're a good group, but we need some seasoning, some marinating. Our guys need to get stronger, and a little more mature, but the talent is there."
Senior forward Will Bates adds, "It's a tough way to go down, but I think it's something you take, and you learn from it. You look at the film, see what went wrong, and maybe change a few things for the next time we get in the same situation."
Virginia (1-2) was outshot 14-8 for the match.
The Cavaliers return to action Friday at 7:30pm against Duke at Klockner Stadium.
The 7th-ranked Virginia women's soccer team wrapped up play in the Longhorn Invitational with a 2-1 win over SMU Sunday in Texas.
Caroline Miller and Julia Roberts scored the goals for the Cavaliers.
UVA is now 5-1, and returns home to host The Virginia Soccer Classic on Friday.
The James Madison played 110-minutes of soccer, but finished in a scoreless draw with Temple Sunday in Harrisonburg.
The Dukes outshot the Owls 30-to-8.
JMU will host North Carolina next Tuesday.
